Busy week/weekend

I now have a stitching chair in the sunny corner of the living room / office / dining room. Yay!!! And 3 new bookshelves, one with a pair of glass doors so I can display more of my Cherished Teddies figurines, without worrying about the cats knocking them over and breaking them. I've wanted a new cabinet for a long time, so $180 for the 7' shelf wasn't as hard to swallow as it might have been.

The two side shelves were $70 each but they will hold a lot of books, and the three together look really nice as a unit. We got some lighting for the closed cabinet too, which I think adds to the effect. Now I just have to finish unpacking my books and figurines, and decide what goes where. That's tomorrow's big job, then Tuesday the DirecTV people come out and install. I haven't had cable/dish since the 10th I think, and I don't really miss it, except for missing new episodes of Good Eats on the Food Network.

As WhizGidget suggested, I do have one day turnaround from Netflix, so I now have Return of the King to watch, which I missed in the theaters... first came the holidays, then DF got sick, then I got sick, and we just never did get a chance to catch it. So maybe tomorrow I'll set up my desktop OTT light and do some stitching in the media room. Or just laze about in bed and watch it on the new LCD TV.

We've been 'bad,' buying a lot of stuff, but I'm hoping we can sort of get it out of our systems and not go much past the moving bonus DF's job gave us, then buckle down and start saving up a good chunk of money for a down payment on a house someday. The bookshelves were a must, and DF wanted to get the DirecTV with TiVo for the entertainment room, which left our 80 hour TiVo without a TV or tuner, so we went ahead and got a 14 inch LCD television for the bedroom, and a low end Sony DVD player too, so when they come to install, we'll have them put a DirecTV receiver in the bedroom and the one with TiVo in the entertainment room (which is really the second bedroom of the apartment).

I started working on "Paws and Stripes Furever" by Stitchy Kitty yesterday morning, to celebrate my new stitching chair and the shelves... like I need a reason to start a new project! So I worked some more on that this evening, and now I'm sleepy and ready for bed.
